Filip Malbasic starts collage at The University of Arizona and signs with Arizona Men’s Tennis – the Wildcats

We would like to send a big congratulation to Team Catella player Filip Malbasic that will start collage at The University of Arizona and will play for the Wildcats for the 2017 season.

Arizona’s head coach Clancy Shields says, “We are really excited to have Filip join our program. Filip and I had a great connection when we met in Sweden. He is an outstanding kid with great character, a tremendous work ethic, and a good tennis resume to back it up. The more I got to know about Filip and his family, the sacrifices he has made to become an elite player and student, the more convinced I was that he was the right player for our program. I’m looking forward working with Filip on his development and making him the best possible player he can be. Filip joins the youth movement that includes four new faces this year, and I believe his contribution to the team on and off the court will be felt in a big way.”

“I choose Arizona because of the connection I got while meeting with Clancy in Stockholm,” said Malbasic. “I could see his vision with me on the team and his vision about the overall tennis program. Arizona has two very young coaches and passionate ones who will make me a better tennis player, but the main reason I chose Arizona was because they believe in me. Arizona is also a great academic school in the strong Pac-12 conference, and for me, studying business at one of the best business programs in the country made my choice even easier.”

Filip Malbasic has been a player at the academy from the start and we wish him best of luck both with his studies and his tennis.
