Magnus Norman, former successful coach of Stan Wawrinka, owns the successful Good to Great Tennis Academy together with former pro players Nicklas Kulti and Mikael Tillström in Stockholm, Sweden. Good to Great Tennis Academy, Swiss Tennis and its internationally oriented Swiss Tennis Academy has signed a cooperation agreement and the contract is valid for the next five years.
In the past, Swiss Tennis has frequently agreed to cooperate with other regional associations, but working with a foreign tennis academy is a novelty. ”The training philosophies of Swiss Tennis and Magnus Norman are very similar,” explains René Stammbach, President of Swiss Tennis. ”We see many synergies, also with our international tennis academy. In addition the Good to Great Tennis Academy would like to take our kids tennis program Kids Tennis High School, introduced three years ago, to Sweden and Good to Great Tennis Academy.”
The cooperation includes mutual training weeks, the exchange of wild cards, joint delegations and the introduction and takeover of the Kids Tennis program developed by Swiss Tennis. “Switzerland and Sweden had some successful coach-player relationship in the past and we are very excited to see what this new collaboration can bring. We share the same values and we are also impressed with the Kids Tennis project that we are keen to explore further at our academy in Sweden” says Magnus Norman partner Good to Great Tennis Academy.
Magnus Norman is a household name at the worldwide tennis scene. The Swede has reached the second place of the world ranking and won Davis Cup with Sweden. As a coach, he led Robin Söderling twice into the final of French Open and Stan Wawrinka to his three Grand Slam victories. His academy is located in Stockholm and Swiss Davis Cup player Antoine Bellier has been training at the academy since the beginning of the year.
