Good to Great starts a PRO TEAM

Good to Great Tennis Academy has decided to invest in helping the Swedish players today ranked to play Future tournaments on the ATP ranking by creating a PRO TEAM that will travel together on tournaments.

The investment consist of making a coach available to a core group of players from the academy. The players will travel together 15-20 weeks with a coach. Sometimes non academy players might also join the group by simply asking. The players will share the costs of the coach with makes it very cost effective and at the same time more structured.

”We believe in the team idea and if there is something that these players have asked for it is the possibility to travel together with a coach. The player feels like its sometimes lonely out on the lower tier tournaments and its tough to be organized with practice and all the stuff that comes with being a professional tennis player. We wanted to meet this request and we hope that also other Swedish players might wanna join the team. The team will travel to ITF futures to start with but the goal is to move to Challengers and hopefully ATP qualifications in the future” Says Magnus Norman

The coach that will be responsible for the PRO TEAM during 2017 will be Luca Marchiori from Italy. Luca has been with the academy for several years and has worked with Daniel Brands and Varvara Lepchenko among others.

Luca is in my opinion a great coach. He has all the abilities that i would look for in a coach. He is very interested and passionate to become better in what he is doing. He is good listener. He has the know how and today also the experience. On top of that he is a great hitter that come in handy at this level as he can easily warm up players and work after matches etc. Im really happy that Luca accepted this challenge with the boys” Says Magnus Norman

Luca is right now in Kazhakstan with the TEAM and writes from there below. We hope and think that this investment will be great for Swedish Tennis.

Letter from Kazhakstan

This week we started the new program and the new team for our older guys at Good to Great with the Futures in Kazhakistan. The trip has started with a couple of rainy days which made it hard for us to practice, after that the tournament has started and 2 losses came in the last round of qualifications and one in a 2nd round Main Draw. Tough matches that could have been better but part of a learning process that the guys has started and are really hungry to do. I think they are working very well on practice and showing a great effort with hunger to learn on a daily basis. I believe it´s very important for them to travel together with a coach as a team, to be given the right directions and try to support each other when the conditions makes it possible and learn from each other at any time possible, practice or match. I think this will help the guys a lot to become better and more complete tennis players, the results that any of them will do should motivate the others.

One more tournament is coming up now and we are trying to prepare practicing every day with the goal to feel and be 100 % ready for the upcoming matches. The level of the players in the tournaments here so far has been high, that´s exactly what we want to compete against and measure ourselves against, We will try to prepare very well and get the best out of the next tournament before to comeback to the academy and prepare for the Swedish Futures.
